Comfort food as the weather gets colder
Have you experienced casseroles in the Midwest? For this Fall Food Friday, we’re sharing our take on the Green Bean Casserole, first introduced by Campbell Soup Company in the 1950s.
We’ll be bringing you all a few more creations you can make for upcoming holidays, Friendsgiving celebrations, and other gatherings!
The added mushrooms and cayenne pepper spice things up! Our recipe is below:
Ingredients you will need
You will need
- 4 c frozen green beans
- 1 c sliced mushrooms
- 2 T unsalted butter
- 1 1/3 c fried onions
- 10.5 oz Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup
- 1/2 c half and half
- 1 t soy sauce
- 1/4 t ground black pepper
- 1/4 t cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Melt butter in an oven-safe pan (we use a braiser) over medium heat.
- Whisk together soup, half and half, soy sauce, and seasonings until smooth. Set aside.
- Cook mushrooms for 3 minutes, flip. Add green beans and stir. Cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 2/3 c fried onions.
- Pour the soup mixture and fold into the green beans and mushrooms.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, stir, and add the remaining 2/3 cup fried onions to top.
- Return to oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes. Serve. Enjoy!
