Inspiration Up North

When we lived in Wisconsin, our weekend was frequently spent adventuring around the state. There are many freshwater lakes, cities, and unique places to explore!
Madison is where we met and curated our first home together. Spring and summer months were spent wandering around the downtown isthmus, enjoying brunch spots and evenings with friends at the latest farm-to-table restaurant or cocktail bar.
Madison is where Edward learned how valuable aged cheddar could be when he first moved there and listened to a person carry on while at a local dive!
You could find us on one of the lakes afternoons, boating or trying our hands at stand-up paddleboarding! Sunsets were magical at the Wisconsin Union Terrace. We even enjoyed a few football games at Camp Randall Jump(ing) Around for the Badgers!
Fall weekends were great to take a drive out of Madison. We enjoyed hiking at Devil’s Lake. Or kayaking on Mirror Lake, and we always dreamed of paddling to Ishnala, one of the most famous supper clubs in the state.
Another great place we enjoyed together was our friends’ cabin in the Northwoods of Rhinelander.
Winters found us venturing over to Milwaukee, where we’d find a concert to enjoy or shop in the Historic Third Ward. Milwaukee was also great for breweries, and, when the weather cooperated, strolling along the riverwalk.
The Milwaukee Art Museum is also world-class and worth a visit, as it’s a Santiago Calatrava masterpiece that is a gem on the waterfront of Lake Michigan. And, of course, there are more activities to enjoy there year-round!
