Workshop
Overview
When you hear the word “workshop,” can you smell the fresh-cut wood? As a teenager, David learned woodworking from his grandfather during summer breaks from school. Since then, we have done several DIY projects to know that having a space dedicated to the craft was a dream. Creating a home workshop for us has taken years, but we now take great pride in it.
Our moodboard
When we built our house from the ground up, we added a single-car “carriage garage” adjacent to the main garage. We had it insulated as we plumbed for a heater and added a 240V wall outlet for future needs. This 14' x 22' space would become our dedicated workshop.
In addition, we installed Elfa shelving from The Container Store along both walls. Workbenches and tools would then join in. We have a particular aesthetic of yellow and black (DEWALT) as they're workhorses in the trades, and they work well for us, too!
Bringing it all together
We are in the process of teaching ourselves the ways to best use a router. One of our favorite tools is our biscuit joiner, also known as a biscuit cutter. A most used tool for us is definitely our miter saw.
Currently we’re enjoying our new table saw, which will be helpful for the bookshelves we're bringing to our downstairs theater. Air quality is essential, and we're installing dust collection and filtration systems to help keep things cleaner as we work. Stay tuned as we continue to make things together for our home in the workshop!
