Porch

Overview

A front porch was necessary in designing our New England Colonial-style home. We yearn to connect with our neighbors as they walk their dogs and pass by. Having a large covered front porch allows us to do this while enjoying the breezes that wisp through the air.

Our moodboard

We chose to widen the front porch to 8’, which allows us to spread furniture out and create spaces to relax and welcome guests. Oversize planters and an outdoor rug help define the area for our rocking chairs.

Bringing it all together

This has been our first summer enjoying the porch. We sat with family and friends, enjoying iced tea and lemonade. Call us old-fashioned, but this is the best way to enjoy the front porch. We recently enjoyed sitting on the bench with our puppy, Mitzi! She loves watching the people walk by and thinking about the other dogs too!
